I have had the pleasure of helping a new friend and sister in Christ. When we met, we both felt as if it was a divine appointment! Within the first few minutes of our conversation we amazingly discovered, she and her husband considered buying the house which Jared and I currently reside in. However, they did not feel that this house was the right house for them. Instead, she moved into another home that is just a few miles away from us. She continued to pray for our neighborhood and for the unknown future homeowners!
What are the chances Jared and I would come to meet the very person who prayed over our home, before she ever knew us?! This jaw-dropping “coincidence” is nothing less than a miracle! God has a way of ordering our footsteps and providing the godly community we all need.
But anyways, this short story is not actually what this post is about. It’s just a bonus 🙂
Here’s what I really wanted to share:
I have been so blessed and encouraged by Denise Jackson’s inspiring marriage posts. Her words have been so authentic and real, while also sharing reminders of Godly truths that will strengthen your Christian marriage. Throughout 50 years of her Christian marriage, Denise has gleaned a lot of wisdom from seeking God and having faith for her marriage. God has given me such a wonderful gift of her friendship.
I will be sharing a few of her marriage posts, and I hope that you will be encouraged as much as I have been.
Praying for your Husband
By Denise Jackson
What would it look like to truly pray for your husband? Not just a quick prayer, but actually going before God on his behalf—whether things are good or hard?
I’ve learned that the more I pray for my husband, the more God works in both of our hearts. It’s not just about fixing problems; it’s about inviting God into the heart of our marriage.
Here are five prayers I pray for my husband:
- Communication: I pray that God would open his heart to clear and honest communication, helping us understand each other better.
- Wisdom: I ask God to give him wisdom in every decision, big or small, and guide him with understanding as he leads our family.
- Strength: I pray that God would strengthen him—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—to endure whatever life brings.
- Protection: I ask God to keep him safe from harm, temptation, and anything that could pull him away from God’s best for him.
- Intimacy with God: I pray that he would experience a deeper relationship with God each day, hearing His voice clearly and growing closer to Him.
For myself, I pray that my heart would become more like the Father’s — full of tenderness, patience, and love. I want to see my husband through His eyes and love him with a heart of grace and compassion. When I pray for my marriage, I’m inviting God to transform both of us. I trust Him with the hard times and the good, knowing He is faithful to work in both of us.
If you’re waiting for your future husband, or praying for the one you’re already married to, I encourage you to begin praying intentionally for him. Whether you’re married, engaged, or single, God is faithful to work in your heart as you surrender to Him.
