God’s Glory Seen in Unity

John 17:22 NKJV
And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.

When we see that we can be one with other Christians, and especially the ones in our home and family, we can say: “I have the same glory that God gave to Jesus”. Most people can’t say this however, and they fight, argue, are divided on important matters, and even allow there to be divisions on unimportant matters. Husbands and wives should work hard to stay united that the glory of God can be seen in us. Others around us know when we are divided and even though they don’t say it they are thinking “well I guess all this God business isn’t working for them”. That’s exactly what I thought as a teenager when I saw my parents arguing and giving each other dirty looks.

When your “oneness” and unity in Christ with other believers (especially your spouse) falls apart, it’s an early sign that you are not walking in the grace and glory of God. I know you might want to think it’s the other person’s fault, but that is exactly what the devil would have you think. You need to see where you have not done what you could to be at peace with your spouse or loved ones, then other believers around you will see God working within you and within your marriage. (Heb. 12:14, Ps. 34:14, Rom. 12:18).

May God grant that the prayer of Jesus is answered in our lives, that we might be one with the Father and one with the each other!
