False Teaching
Within the New Testament there are multiple times that scripture warns against false teaching. It is repeated so much because it is such a high risk area for so many people. Many people go to church and listen to what the pastor teaches; however, never go home to read the scriptures for themselves. If this is you, you may very well be deceived of the actual truth of the bible.
When I see Christian’s falling into some of the most obvious snares of false teaching, then I am very concerned for how easily they could fall for the less obvious. If you are not experiencing abundant life and fruit, then maybe the thief is already in your house. Take some time to examine and see what you are holding on to, studying, believing, hoping for which is unbiblical or extra-biblical which does not lead to godliness!
If you are new to the faith, take this warning knowing that there is more false “Christianity” than there is true in the world these days. Set your heart to be valiant for the truth; do not receive everything but rather test all things, and don’t be disappointed when you find out something you enjoyed was a false teacher or doctrine. Trust me I have been there, and I have suffered this disappointment along side you, but you need to get up and keep going on with God in truth!
If you have been in the faith for many years and going to church for a long time, then I urge you to measure your life by the fruit and see if you are living the abundant life that Jesus says you should have, and bearing good fruit. You may be surprised to find that many of the things you cling to as true could be false, or at least out of balance. For example, I had to come to the truth of seeing that signs, wonders, and miracles are real, but that we should never seek them and only seek God. This was disappointing to accept because it meant that sound of my favorite preachers and prophets who amazed me with their miracles were actually tricksters, deceivers, and perverting the true grace of God. An imbalance is an abomination to the Lord (Prov. 20:23). Be sure that you have the balanced life of Christ, and not some strange doctrines which will ultimately fail you.
